Where will I study ?

Lillebaelt Academy University of Applied Sciences (EAL)

Lillebaelt Academy University of Applied Sciences (EAL) is the third largest academy in Denmark and the largest in the region of Southern Denmark. Our study programmes are closely linked to the industry and our aim is to ensure that you have developed the skills and competences demanded by your future employer. Approximately 3500 students study at EAL. On the 1st of August 2016, we moved into a brand new campus in Odense located close to the city centre, the train station and the harbour. You will therefore study in a modern and innovative environment.

You can read more on the EAL website

 Pedagogical Approach

The programmes at EAL are based on a combination of theory and practice, and throughout your studies you will enjoy close cooperation with the business world via e.g. guest lectures and company visits. We strive towards creating a problem based learning approach where you have to engage actively in the problem solving process. It is common to work in groups with projects because it improves e.g. your communicative skills, your flair for teamwork and your problem solving abilities. All projects and courses have an interdisciplinary approach which will
strengthen your position after graduation when looking for employment.

During the 3rd semester, you can expect to have three days scheduled with lessons between 8 am and 3 pm. During the 4th semester, you will have 3-4 days scheduled with lessons between 8 am and 3 pm.

At EAL, we find rooms in dormitories for most of the exchange students coming to study with us. We always assist the students in finding proper accommodation prior to their stay. The room will be furnished and you can borrow kitchen utensils from us.

Denmark has high living standards which could mean higher living costs than what you are used to. However, our experience with exchange students is that they do not have difficulties in making the financial aspect work during their stay with us.

Prices for accommodation vary. However, you should expect to use approximately 350 EUR on accommodation and another 350 EUR to cover costs of food, clothing and the like.

How much will it cost me ?

You don't need to pay a tuition fee for your participation in the European Professional Bachelor Programme, as you will have the exchange student status. Nevertheless you will be required to pay the tuition fees of the academic year in your home institution.

You are also of course expected to cover your costs related to e.g. travel, accommodation and food.

You can apply for an Erasmus+ grant, which is a scholarship that will cover some of your travel and living costs during your exchange semesters. Please note, you cannot expect that the Erasmus+ grant will cover all your costs during your exchange periods and should therefore be seen as a contribution.

During the 5th and the 6th semester, you will divide your time between being a student and an intern, and you will receive an internship salary from the company corresponding to 1,000 EUR per month.

You can apply for an Erasmus+ grant at the same time as you apply for studying abroad. You can read more about the grant and the application on the EAL website

As a Danish fulltime student, you are of course entitled to receive SU – usually also during semesters abroad. However, you might not be entitled to SU during the 5th and 6th semester due to the internship salary. Please make contact to the responsible person for SU at EAL or the SU Agency in Denmark if you are in doubt. Please note that it is your own responsibility to keep updated on the rules in effect regarding SU and make the possible necessary adjustments.
